One of the best ways to find out about what university can offer you, is to visit one. Kingston University runs several programmes that give you the opportunity to 'see for yourself'.
These schemes are run in connection with your school and are organised by them. If you're interested, ask your teacher or careers adviser to get in touch with us to arrange a visit for your school.
Discovery Days
These days are aimed at giving people a general feel for what university is and what benefits there are in studying at a Higher Education Institution. There are sessions that allow you to speak to and work with current students at the University as well as a tour and we even provide lunch. People aged 11 to 13 can come, with their school to a ' Discovery Day'.
Taster days
These days are much more specific and are usually tailored to reflect a subject area that can be studied at university. You are likely to get a taste of university in general but also a slice of the specific subject as well. People aged 14 to 15 can come, with their school to a 'Taster Day'.
Master-classes
These sessions are the most specific of all the events offered at Kingston University. Directly related to something you re studying at either GCSE or further education level, they are designed to support your learning and also give you an insight into opportunities available to further your study at university. People aged 14 to 15 and 17 to 18 can come, with their school or college to a 'Masterclass'.
Summer Schools
These three day residential programmes aim to give you a combination of communication and self confidence skills with a taste of a specific subject area. Kingston University runs two summer school programmes in civil engineering and media. People aged 14 to 15 can attend summer schools with the support of their school.
