What is a university?
Universities are large places where people can go to study a subject in great detail. Usually you can only go to university once you have completed a qualification at level 3 . At any time there can be hundreds or even thousands of people on site at a university including teachers, students and people supporting and researching the different subjects being taught. Having a Higher Education qualification gives you more opportunities when it comes to getting a job and progressing in your chosen career. There are universities all over the world. The information in this site is largely related to UK universities but some of the information will prepare you for the concept of higher education no matter where you chose to go.
How do I apply?
The system for applying to university is quite complicated and you will need to get specific information relating to your course choice, university choice and location. In general all university applications are handled by an organisation called UCAS which stands for the University and Colleges Admissions Service. Their website will give you loads of information about the application procedure and the universities they work with (which is nearly all of the UK universities)

The best way to find out about student life is to ask real students. Throughout the site you will find real students giving their opinion on some of the ideas introduced in the pages.
