University is not just about the qualification you will get at the end of your course which
will help your job prospects and earning potential, but also what you can gain from the
whole university experience - including meeting new people, gaining independence,
money management and sports and social activities. There is a whole range of new opportunities that are opened up to you.

 

 

The Students’ Union at each university will provide lots of organised entertainment for new students during the first week to help you make new friends. Also with lots of sports and social activities available all year, you will soon find other people with similar interests to you and lots of things to get involved with. Typically Student Unions will have various different sports, religious, cultural, and volunteering societies for you to join up to.

While at university you will have lots of opportunities to travel. This may be part of the course you decide to take - like a field trip, an exchange programme or a work placement abroad or even part of the club or society you join. You will also make friends with people from all around the world, so you might even have a chance to go and visit their home town!
